INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME 2022

Hello. Again. 3.0. This one was a January post from LinkedIn. Ha Ha Ha.

Hello everyone. The INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAMME 2022 is back!

I was a Participating Youth for the Ship of Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Programme back in 2019. It was so fantastic. 52 days onboard with my fellow friends from the Japan and SEA countries, I gained so much experience from that program. I never thought I get selected in the first place. When I looked around at that time and saw tremendous outstanding youth around me, I said to myself, “it’s okay if you didn’t get it; at least you get the experience.”

So for the next five days at the selection camp, I just enjoyed the ride and gave my best. One tip here. Be good at what you’re passionate about. *wink. Fast forward to July, I got the call from KBS, and I did it. Alhamdulillah. We (the contingent) attend quite a number of training to ensure we are fully prepared before going to SSEAYP. We bonded by doing everything together, and until now, the friendship has been strong.

In October 2019, here we were. At the Narita Airport, and couldn’t wait for our journey to begin! Thank you, KBS, KABESA, and all the agencies that were involved, for these golden opportunities. Indeed, it was one of the best memories I ever had, and I wish to apply for it again! Hahaha.

So Malaysian youth, I highly encourage you to apply for this program. I promise you will learn a lot, gain so much experience, bring added value to yourself, and of course create networking with other PY from other countries.

p/s : I removed the link since the application has been closed sorry~

Webinar with NAHRIM

Hello (again). Ni pun aku copy pastes from LinkedIn ok xoxo

20 February 2022. Today I joined a webinar called The Practicality Of Water Harvesting Across Urban-Rural Continuum by Ir. Marini Mohamad Ideris from Water Resources And Climate Change Research Centre, National Water Research Institute Of Malaysia (NAHRIM). The seminar was brought by SSEAYP Roundtable Program (SRPro) 2022 in conjunction with Ministry Youth And Sports Malaysia and SSEAYP International Malaysia.

There are a few topics that were highlighted in the session. Firstly, it was on the water security, and SDG, where the crucial measurement to make the water security on the ground were the quality, quantity, affordability, and equity. Next are indicators of water security risks such as floods and how climate change can affect water security, and how to improve water security. All of this is related to SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation.

Next was the overview of water conditions in Malaysia, where the issues were highlighted on the water supply impacted by the drought/flood, some insights on the water crisis in 1998 and 2016. Last year, we would say the water crisis was also bad. In August/September, fenomena kepala air in Kedah, and in December 2021, the a heavy flood in a few states of Malaysia. Water crisis not only occurs when disasters happen, but there’s also water crisis when it involves pollution, heavy metal, and so on.

Next was the interconnection of water security; resources & supply, where the talk highlights the demand of consumption from every industry. Water demand is expected to increase in all sectors of production. However, there have been some issues and challenges to the water resources. Thus, to address the issues, there is the solution to alternative water resources & storage.

The alternative water resources such as harvesting practicality can be divided into three; potable, industrial and domestic—for example, rainwater harvesting project.

Besides, to treat water quality, there is some alternative by using treatment techniques such as NAHRIM Biosorbent (N-BIOS) to ensure it is safe for consumption.

The last one was the potential storage & protection. The speaker highlighted the implementation of aquifer storage & recovery (ASR), the underground flood protection storage/tank such as Kasukabe Underground Flood Protection Tank, and SMART Tunnel, the flood diversion tunnel. To conclude, the sharing session was excellent, and thank you so much, Ir. Marini for your time.

MATRADE 2021

Hello. Lama tak bersiaran hshshs. Post ni aku copy pastes from LinkedIn aku btw, so all in English this time. Let's begin~

(I just realized I have a draft on this, so let's post it; this will be a long post).

1st September 2021. Today marked my (almost) last month with Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) as a PSH. I saw an opening on their Instagram, I got the interview, and I got the placement. I was placed for the INSP MIHAS 2021 under CWSAA Section from April-October 2021 (6 months). Today was also the last day for the INSP MIHAS 2021, and we did it. We surpassed the KPI sales despite the challenging pandemic COVID19 situation and facts; this was the first time INSP MIHAS was held fully virtual!

It was an incredible journey; working with my amazing bosses & learning so much from them would be the most exciting experience for me. By updating, doing data gathering, and monitoring all the business matching and business meetings, I can see how evolving the trade between Malaysia and other countries was. Not only that, I've also been given a chance to conduct business meetings by matching the Malaysian sellers and foreign buyers. With that, I am able to communicate with MATRADE overseas officers, sit in the meeting room together & learn how business has been made. I saw many exciting & valuable information exchanges there, & it was a great learning platform. Not to forget, the weekly reports needed to be sent & the final report to be submitted, marking our achievement throughout the five months process.

Getting the chance to work with different officers from different departments makes me learn so much & how to communicate better & address any issues/difficulties in a good way. Everyone has their working style; thus, it is an opportunity to seek out new perspectives.

Finally, I can emphasize the cross-cultural. As MATRADE is an international trade organization where they work closely with foreign countries, thus, when you're having meetings with the foreign buyers or communicating with the TC/ATC/Marketing Officer, sometimes they will talk about the country's culture, language, and the beautiful of the country itself. As someone who loves traveling and seeing new places, it was a lovely insight for me. For example, I had never heard about Seven Sister States, India before, so when I heard about that, I immediately Google and I marked the places where I wished to go one day.

Not to forget the other activities I got the chance to get involved in. The CSR program at Kg Orang Asli, celebrates Independence Day virtually, a few badminton sessions with my colleague as well as the Hari Sukan Negara MATRADE. It’s not that much due to the COVID19; however, it was awesome!

To conclude, I can say that it was six months full of sweet journey and a beautiful experience. I gained so much knowledge, and I wish that I would step my feet back there one day, inshaAllah. Thank you to my fantastic officers for your guidance. Till then, thank you MATRADE, INSP MIHAS 2021 Secretariat, CWSAA for the opportunities & thank you for reading.😄
